Each year, American Educational Consultants and Bahcesehir College in Istanbul, Turkey look for local high schools to provide several Turkish high school students the opportunity to live with American families in the U.S. for three weeks in the spring. This year six Oberlin families hosted Turkish students. Internationally minded parents consider it a priority to expose their children to other cultures and lifestyles in order to become truly global citizens. Oberlin High School wrapped up International Education Week, Friday, November19th with a performance by the Oberlin College Taiko. “ Oberlin College Taiko aims to share an appreciation and understanding of the traditional art form of Japanese Taiko Drumming, to foster a strong and respectful community, and to inspire a sense of discipline of the mind, body and spirit.”
